Accessibility Statement
A Time To Shop should be usable by everybody, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard alone, magnification, or a reduced-motion setting. This page records what we aim for, what we have actually checked, where we know we fall short, and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.
What we aim for
We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, at Level AA. We treat that as the working standard for the site rather than an aspiration for later.
What we have done
- Pages are built from semantic HTML with one main landmark, a single page heading, and headings in order.
- Every page starts with a skip link to the main content.
- The whole site can be operated from the keyboard, and the focus indicator is always visible.
- Text and interface colours are checked against the WCAG contrast minimums. Where a brand colour did not meet the ratio for small text we darkened the text variant instead of shipping the brand value, so the palette gives way to legibility rather than the other way round.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Form fields have real labels, and errors are announced rather than only coloured red.
- Animation and smooth scrolling are switched off for visitors whose system asks for reduced motion.
- Accessibility is checked automatically as part of our release process, and a page that regresses does not ship.
What we have not done
We would rather list these than let you assume they are covered:
- No independent accessibility audit has been carried out, and we do not publish a formal conformance claim or an accessibility conformance report.
- Automated checks catch a real but limited share of accessibility problems. Manual screen-reader testing across the full site is not yet part of our routine.
- Content and media hosted by third parties, and merchant sites we link out to, are outside our control and may not meet the same standard.
- Older articles are held to the same standard as new ones, but we fix them as we find them rather than all at once.
Tell us about a barrier
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, email filone@atimetoshop.com. It helps if you can tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what you use to browse, but please write even if you cannot supply all of that.
We will acknowledge within 5 business days and tell you what we can do and by when. If a fix will take time, we will offer the information you were after in another format in the meantime. There is no charge for this and you do not need to explain why you need it.
This statement
This statement covers atimetoshop.com. It is reviewed when the site changes materially, and the “last updated” date above tells you when that last happened.
